Subscription Questions
How do I subscribe to Bitch? Or give a gift subscription?
The best bet is through our secure order web page. If giving a gift, please provide full contact info for both you and the gift recipient. Let us know how long you'd like to subscribe, and with which issue to start. Also, if you don't mind letting us know how you heard about Bitch, that'd be neat too. We take checks (US-based banks only, please), money orders and Visa or MasterCard. You can call 877-212-4824 (outside the US call 815-732-9004). Our
hours are 8 - 4:30 Monday-Friday and we are in the central time zone.
You can also mail your subscription payment to:

How much is a subscription (and what do I get)?
Bitch subscriptions are $19.95 for one year (four quarterly issues). For more ordering information, you can go to our orders page - Canadian, other international, and printable order forms can also be found here.
I do not live in the U.S., can I subscribe?
Of course! Check out our orders page. Canadian subscriptions are US$29.95 for four issues, and other international subscriptions cost US$54.95. The rates are higher because they include additional postage expenses to mail outside the U.S. and other wacky international mailing tariffs and taxes.
If you use Visa or MasterCard, you will notice an exchange calculation on your credit statement. If you'd like to pay by check (or cheque!) or money order, please mail your order/payment to Bitch Magazine / PO Box 397 / Oregon, IL 61061. The funds must be drawn from a U.S. bank. FYI, writing "U.S. dollars" on a non-domestic check makes our bank very angry, so please don't do it!

I ordered my subscription a few weeks ago and haven't received a copy. What's up?
There are several possible scenarios here. First, periodicals are a lower priority (sometimes dreadfully so) to the
postal service, often taking up to four weeks to travel coast-to-coast.
Second, our magazines are sent periodically (every month or so), rather than continuously. If you opted to start your subscription with the current issue, the earliest you'd be sent your first issue is three weeks after we receive your order, and the latest, six weeks.
However, if you decided to start your subscription with the NEXT issue, the issue will of course not be sent until the NEXT issue is published: Spring in March, Summer in June, Fall in September, and Winter in December.
It also depends on how you've sent your subscription request. Typically, web and phone orders are faster to process than postal requests. Also, If a few weeks turns into a few months, then we might have a problem. If that's the case, give a shout to customer service.
When will I be receiving my next issue?
We publish four issues a year: March, June, September, and December. Typically issues arrive between the second and third weeks of these months. Please allow more time for shipping to Canada and international destinations.
I've received a damaged issue. What can I do?
Give us a shout by phone or email. We'll be happy to re-send a copy to you if you ask nicely, and if we have one available. Be sure to include your complete name and mailing address!
I haven't received the latest issue. What gives?
The magazines are sent out in periodic batches, so it usually takes 4-6 weeks to receive an issue. Thanks for your patience!
There are other reasons for issues not being delivered. Has your subscription expired? Has payment been made for the subscription? Do we have your correct mailing address? If you have moved, the post office does NOT forward the magazine to the new address.
What about me, I'm getting two issues? Wha??
Maybe you tried to renew but it was perceived as a new subscription? If you are getting two issues, please get in touch with us so we can fix that problem. We will need to know the exact name and address from BOTH of the issues you recieved. We will gladly extend your subscription, so you get what was intended.
I ordered a subscription, and only received one or two copies. Then I got a renewal notice saying my last issue was coming up. Seriously, you guys-what's up?
Yikes. We do apologize. It's possible our renewal notice crossed in the mail with the third issue in your subscription. There might also be a misunderstanding on when exactly your subscription began. You can send any queries to customer service to clear things up, then we can send you any issues you should already have enjoyed.
I'm moving. What do I need to do?
Hopefully, you're thinking of this at least six weeks beforehand, since the postal service does not forward magazines nor do we have the money to replace issues lost due to unreported address changes. To ensure uninterrupted delivery, let us know your new whereabouts (and when the move is effective) by e-mailing customer service, ringing us at our toll-free number (877-21-BITCH) or clicking here.
Can I temporarily stop my subscription?
Yes. If your address is up in the air, or if you're going to be away, we can suspend your subscription for as long as you'd like. Just get in touch with us both when you want to stop and re-start it, and it should work out fine.
Can I receive an electronic copy of the magazine? Or large print?
We understand these two versions would be awesome, but sorry, not yet. In the meantime, please enjoy our snazzy new website and let us know how else we can be better.
How do I find my account and order numbers?
You will find your customer number on your magazine's label.
Your order number will be on renewal letters or subscription invoices.
Will you rent my name and mailing address?
Nope, we no longer share our names with progressive or feminist causes.
Will you rent my email address?
No way, not ever. We will only use your email address for B-word-related correspondence.
I always buy my issues at Borders. Isn't that better than subscribing, because I'm showing the big chains that they should continue to stock the magazine?
While we totally appreciate this noble urge, it's actually much better for us in the long run if you subscribe rather than buying Bitch on the newsstand. Here's why: When people buy Bitch at a bookstore, we eventually (four to five months later) get around $3 of the roughly $7 you pay for it. When people subscribe, we get all of the money and we get it right away. Subscribing is better for you, too, because you pay only $4.99 an issue-a huge savings off the newsstand price. Of course we'd rather have people buying it in the bookstore than not buying it at all, but stores will continue to stock the magazine, and new newsstand buyers will always come along.
Renewal Questions
How do I know when to renew?
Really, you can renew whenever you like. Renewing early (maybe after you've received two out of your four yearly issues) will save us paper, time, and drama. When you receive a renewal letter, it will specify what issue your sub will expire with. It will say either Spring, Summer, Fall, or Winter, followed by the year.
It will also say something like REN2. This means that it is the second time we've notified you.
And this is super important: whenever you renew, make sure it is obvious. If you're doing so online, choose the renewal option. If you're doing so by mail, please write "renewal," if it's not obvious already. If you're calling in, please tell us it's a renewal and not a new subscription. This is very helpful and will prevent duplicates and other headaches for all of us.
If you're renewing by mail, please return our renewal letter in the order you send us! If you've misplaced the renewal letter we sent you, we'd greatly appreciate it if you clearly wrote "renewal" on your order.
How can I renew?
Just like with subscribing, you can renew by mail, phone, or online. And also just like subscribing, we take checks (US-based banks only, please), money orders, MasterCard or Visa.
Have you received my renewal payment yet?
Renewals by mail typically take a few weeks to process, with all the delivering and sorting and banking involved. Renewals by phone will most likely take a day or two to finalize. You can always call or email us with your specific concerns or questions.
Billing Questions
How do I know how much I owe?
Your subscription invoice lists it at the top. If your a US-based subcriber with a 1-year subscription it will most likely be $19.95.
How can I send in my payment?
By mail, phone, or online. And just like subscribing, we take checks (US-based banks only, please), money orders, MasterCard or Visa. Please provide your full name, mailing address, phone and email in case something goes awry with your payment.
If you're sending by mail please include our invoice! If you no longer have this, please clearly write "invoice" on the letter you send us. Mail to:
